PIAZZA ARMERINA IN THE END OF ' 800

View from South of Piazza Armerina Enna in Sicily at the end of ' 800 ' 900

This is one of the many photos of our cities in this period, the late 19th century.
The view is from the South (although pictured is designated Southwest) and the first steeple you notice in the upper left is the one between the churches of Saint Vincent and Saint Anthony.
Next right there is one that does not exist today.
Probably should be to St. Dominic, overall of the Episcopal Seminary. Big enough, we find it distinctly in other photos, but up in those 1930s/1940s ¹.

Even more to the right stands to s. John the Evangelist, lower down the middle is the row of unmistakable buildings that already characterizes the via Roma (ex f ' rraria), clearly limited by the darker area of the valley below, later filled by houses of Channel district and, above all, the Villa delle rose (today Villa Jan. the Cayenne).

Finally right the Church of Santa Maria delle Grazie together with the convent of the Capuchin Friars.
